Brown Thursday on Friday

Unity Stamp Co had a new release party planned for this week and some great sales, along with a blog hop, which runs thru tonight.  I spent yesterday during the “event” working diligently on some stamping of the recent Kit of the Month, and I decided to do a quick post this evening for the hop.  I’ve used scraps of CTMH papers used in a previous post, my favorite colored pencils and other scraps laying about.  There are some fantastic sales happening not only at Unity but at Cricut, Blitsy and other sites you’ll find in my side bars, if you have any questions or need help locating something, give me a shout.

Speaking of sales, be sure to check out my CTMH Black Friday Party happening now on Facebook.  Please join the brand new Facebook Group “Crafty Explorers” too, where you can hear about all kinds of sales and fun things and get to know other crafty types too.

Be sure to check out Unity’s Blog Hop too to see amazing cards made with Unity Stamps – Brown Thursday Blog Hop

Flurries and Cricuts in the Air this November

Cricut Simple Snowflake**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking through my links.

If you live anywhere in the northern parts, like I do, you’ve no doubt already seen some snow flurries in the air.  A recent sighting of a few flakes put me in the mood for some holiday card making, so out came the Cricut Air, my number one crafting assistant. I chose a Make It Now card and a few fun colors…including some silver, gold and white glittery paper and they came together quicker then a trip to the nearest card store. This card does contain an image that is from Simple Holiday Cards, and is available in the monthly subscription, or is available in Design Space for a small fee (usually a buck) if you are not a subscriber.

Do you too want to be able to easily make pretty cards, fun décor and personalized gifts for upcoming holidays? Then you need to treat yourself to a Cricut Explore Air™ — Cricut’s very popular electronic cutting machine. It’s the best DIY crafting tool to be developed since the sewing machine!

The Cricut Explore Air is versatile, easy to use, and allows for very precise cuts. It’s also incredibly affordable, especially since Cricut generously discounted the cost by up to $200 on the machine and bundles — just in time for the holiday crafting season!

With the Cricut Explore Air™, you can cut over 60 different types of material, including paper, fabric, plastic and vinyl to name a few. The Explore Air also features Cut Smart™ technology, which allows you to cut a wide range of shapes and sizes with exceptional precision, from ¼” tall up to 11½” wide x 23½” tall.

This Cricut Explore machine is called the Air because it has built-in Bluetooth® capability. This means you can use Cricut’s free iPad app and design anything you want from your iPad, just like you would on your home computer, but with the convenience of being able to take your projects with you anywhere. Then, you can just wirelessly send your project from your iPad to your Explore Air to bring it to life.

While the Cricut Explore Air is impressive on its own, purchasing it with one of Cricut’s bundle offerings makes it even more valuable. Each bundle comes with different accessories that allow you to expand your creativity and make your crafting projects even more simple and fun to create. Plus, by purchasing your Explore Air with a bundle, you’re able to save a bundle in the process!

Go to Cricut.com and check out the savings Cricut is offering on their Cricut Explore Air™ and bundles today so you can get your very own in time to make this holiday season your most creative one yet!

Cricut has some great things happening too that I’d like to be telling you all about in the next weeks.  I have a new Cuttlebug, which just happens to be on sale now over at Cricut , as are many accessories. I’ll be wanting to tell you about my great shopping experience, as always, at Cricut as well as some of the other fun things Cricut offers.

I have also been having a lot of fun checking Blitsy each day, every day they add new limited time/quantity sales all nicely categorized in all kinds of creative interests from appliqueing to Zyron. I’ve found companies I’ve not seen before here, and many favorites too.

Please note, I do make a small bit of money on each purchase you make from these sites (link will always be available to both CTMH and affiliate sites) on the sides of my blog page for your convenience.  I do appreciate greatly your support, time and encouragement. Thank you so much.

CE CricutMakeItNow 22July2015

Shown above, is a couple of cards I made in merely moments in Design Space, with a Make It Now item.  Read on to get an idea on just how you can make some too, as well as some of the other fantastic quickies you can do with Cricut when your time and creativity may be limited.

Now that you’re more familiar with Cricut Explore One™, Cricut Explore Air™ and Cricut Design Space™, it’s time to chat about some of the really neat things you can create when you put it all together. As you’re getting familiar with your Cricut machine, it’s a great idea to take advantage of the free Make it Now™ projects and images that you get with Cricut Design Space™. For example, check out this adorable 3D Hot Air Balloons Mobile. It’s a fun, easy starter project and makes for the perfect baby shower or toddler’s birthday gift (and can you believe it’s made with felt?). And what’s a gift without a card? Cricut has an incredible selection of card examples made with Cricut Explore machines. There’s even a whole selection dedicated to everything baby, which is where I came across this cute baby shower card.

Birthday What better way to tell someone how special they are than with a hand/Cricut-made card and gift? This super fun shaker card is perfect for a 21+ birthday. And even if you purchase a gift, you can always use your Cricut Explore machine to personalize it. For example, if you bought a friend a purse or a wallet, you could use your machine to monogram it with their initials. Or if you bought them a plain shirt or sweater, you could customize it with a fun image or statement. I love this sparkly pineapple t-shirt. All you need is a blank shirt, a roll of Cricut Iron-on, and images from the Cricut® Summer Love image set.

Pool Party Soak up the summer fun with a pool party! You can use your Cricut Explore to create everything from invitations to decorations. Here are some really creative ideas for how to add some special splash to a pool party.

Engagement/Wedding Make your own beautiful table decorations, banners, party favor boxes, cards, and more for the happy couple in just a few minutes! You’ll find some really impressive ideas in Cricut’s Design Space, such as this lovely Mr. & Mrs. card. There are an unbelievable number of project examples in the Design Space, which are categorized by type (e.g. baby, holidays, home décor, school, food, etc.) and by level (easy, moderate, and advanced). You can also find a ton of great ideas for projects on Cricut’s Blog and Pinterest page. The summer season is a perfect time to get your very own Cricut machine and familiarize yourself with Design Space and all the incredible projects you can create. Try out a few projects each month and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is. By the time the holiday season rolls around, you’ll be a Cricut pro and will wow your friends and family with your stunning crafting skills!

Stay tuned and have fun crafting!

Getting a Feeling for Cricut Design Space

Shown here, is an example of a card I made in Design Space, which you’ll learn a bit about in today’s post.  Keep reading, for more info on the card, and a link to the Design Space file so you can make your very own just like this one.

If you read last week’s post, you now know why Cricut’s Explore One™ and Explore Air™ machines are so incredible – and a must-have for any crafter. But what bridges the gap between the creative ideas in your head and the Cricut machine is the Cricut Design Space™.

Cricut’s Design Space™ is software for PC, Mac®, iPhone® and iPad® that you get for free with your Cricut machine of choice.

Instead of trying to figure out how to make your project, Design Space gives you the ability to focus on what you want to make. Your Cricut machine takes it from there and brings it to life.

With Design Space, you can start designing from scratch on your computer, iPhone® or iPad®, or you can use a pre-designed, Make It Now™ project. These ready-to-make projects are created by professional artists and include everything from home décor to fashion to paper crafting, and even a variety of FREE projects.

If you want to use one of Cricut’s 50K+ images, you can try them out in the Design Space to see which will look best in your project before you commit to purchasing it.
Uploading Images

When you’re ready to start designing, you can either use one of Cricut’s 50K+ images or easily upload your own using the “Upload Images” tool in Design Space. You can upload and cut .svg, .jpg, .png, .bmp, .gif, and .dxf files absolutely FREE. You can even use fonts already installed on your computer.

Cut What You Want® tool

The Design Space’s Cut What You Want® tool makes it easy to convert your design into a cuttable image in just a few clicks!

The Cricut Design Space™ app for iPad® and iPhone®

Cricut’s easy-to-use app for the iPad® and iPhone® makes it possible for you can design anytime and anywhere inspiration strikes you.

It also allows you to access all the project’s that you’ve personally designed, whether on your iOs device or your PC or Mac, and gives you access to all the Make-it-Now projects.

With this app, you can start a project while at the beach, enhance it at the ice-cream shop, add some embellishments while cozying up on your couch, and then cut it on the Cricut Explore in your craft room. Plus, it’s cloud-based, so your projects are always synced across all your devices.

P.S. Cricut is working on an Android™ app right now, so don’t feel left out if you don’t have an iPad or iPhone.

In a nutshell, Cricut Design Space™ gives you the creative freedom to design just about anything! Make party invitations, decorations, and favors. Create seasonal home décor or personalize wedding gifts. Add embellishments to your favorite photo memories.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! That’s why next week’s post (the last on in this series) will focus on some really fun and interesting projects that people have created using their Cricut machine and the Cricut Design Space.

Stay tuned!

PS: About that file, you’ll find it here CraftyExplorer Sympathy Card.  Listed here is what you’ll need to make your own, and of course, links where you can purchase what’s needed that you may not have, by shopping with me.  You’ll need a Cricut account too to get this file to work, but that is free, and if you do not have these cartridges or subscription and choose not to at this time, you can switch out for other images and tweak to your liking.

*Note – this is the first Cricut file I have shared, please let me know if there are any errors.

What Is a Cricut You Ask? Let’s Begin To Explore What Its All About

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking through my links. Thank you in advance for your reading, clicking and shopping thru my blog.

If you’re reading this post, chances are, you’re a creative type. You like to craft, explore your creativity, and share your creations with others. And it’s for people like you that Cricut created their line of personal electronic cutting machines.
EmmettAndCricut A little known fact about Cricut is that they’ve actually been in business for over 50 years, and their primary purpose has been to develop tools that inspire creativity in people.
Today, millions of people use Cricut’s award-winning products to create beautiful, inventive, and personal projects.

So, what is Cricut? Cricut is actually a family of electronic cutting machines that make it possible for you to easily create amazing do-it-yourself (DIY) projects. Well, not totally DIY because Cricut’s incredible machine’s do a LOT of the heavy lifting.
The two machines that Cricut offers are:

To give you loads of creative freedom and versatility, Cricut developed the Cricut Design Space™, a cloud-based software that works seamlessly with the Cricut Explore® family of machines.

Design Space gives you access to all of your images and projects from any compatible computer or iPad, so you can design just about anything, anytime, and anywhere.

Once you’ve uploaded your design (or pre-designed image) to your Cricut Explore cutting machine, you can sit back and watch it magically bring your design to life.

There are so many interesting things you can make and do with Cricut – which we’ll be sure to cover in a future post. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, it’s best to go over each of Cricut’s machines, what they do, and how they are different. And since I’ve given you quite a bit of info already, we’ll pick up on there in next week’s post!

Until then … happy crafting!

PS – As you can see, my helper Emmett also loves the Cricut! I’ve been having such a fascinating time learning all about my new Cricut, as well as keeping Emmett’s “help” to a reasonable level, that I haven’t done much posting, but I do hope you are keeping an eye out, there will be more posts coming soon. I’ve also done a bit of CTMH Cricuting and stamping, and also some Cricuting with the Grandkids, who love it too!

No Foolin, April is here and you can have Christmas in April!!!

It’s April Fools Day, which for me means at some point during the day I’ll probably kid around with my daughter and out of my mouth will pop something totally ridiculous, but I’ll try so hard to be serious, she’ll begin to believe me and about that time I’ll start cracking up, we’ll have a good laugh and remember a few other silly times in our past.

Now that I am restarting my crafty life, this April Fools Day also means to me my 2nd month with CTMH, my 2nd month with my new Cricut, and about my 3rd day with this new blog!

For CTMH, it means a brand new Seasonal Expressions 2 Catalog is available, and with that, new papers and stamps and kits and things!!!! Even a new Stamp of the Month, that you can get for ONLY $5 with any purchase of $50, or, you can get the stamp for $17.95 if you prefer.  It will not be available again, so act quickly and do not miss this chance to get a stamp set that is a limited edition.  April also means that a new special is taking place, and it is one that is just so amazing and exciting, it’ll be like Christmas in April…as many days as you wish it to be!! Yup, thats right, every single day in April, you have the opportunity to purchase a surprise grab bag for various prices from $35 to $150, each package containing up to double the amount you’ll pay, and all you need to do is purchase any single item that day to qualify.  Each bag is only available for 24 hours, and each price point is unknown til that day, and only available that day til supplies run out.  This Deal of the Day for April is just too exciting to miss, so you’ll want to shop early each day to check the prices and make your decisions to buy or not. You can buy just one day, or buy them all!!! You can have as many Christmases in April as you want! Imagine all that exciting unpacking

We cannot forget about our beloved Cricut, for April, we have a brand new Mystery Package being offered, and it’s only $29!!! Total value is $100, and it’s a surprise too what’s in it!!! That means a Cricut Christmas in April too!!!! I’ve got mine ordered and can’t wait to see what it is!! April for my Cricut also means it’ll be put to use making some Mickey deco for my Grandtwin’s 2nd Bday, some last minute easter stuff, and hopefully this week yet, an attempt to make some Mickey shirt appliques.  I’ll be sure to make notes, and take some pics of it all, so that I can share with you, and maybe even have some new tips (probably of what NOT to do) that I’ll learn as I go.

Day 3 of my blog means, I’ll be getting up after some much needed sleep and reading over this post and editing it for the things I missed writing it at this hour, but I am just sooo excited to share these incredible deals and opportunities with the world I just can’t sleep til I do! It also means I want to double my readers from the day of my last post, so I’ll be busy later with that, too. Oh what the hey, it’s day 3, I’ll triple my readers!  And on that note, I’ll do a quicky publish and go sleep. I hope you are getting some sleep too so you’ll be ready to plan your very own Christmas in April too.

Welcome Crafty Explorers!

This is my very first post, for this blog, and about crafty things.  I am an experienced blogger, but now I am taking it all a step further, or actually, several steps further.   I recently stumbled on a Cricut Explorer and Close To My Heart (CTMH) and felt this was the time for me to put some serious focus on expanding my life while building on my lifelong passion of art and creativity, and my more recently developed skills involving blogging, photoshop, graphic design as well as marketing, customer service, etc. Family is my priority, so little do they know, I’ll be including them now and then also, as I encourage them to explore and expand their own creative side.  Keep an eye out here for more, I can be slow sometimes, but I get there eventually, and together, we can all have fun exploring the crafty and createy side of life.
